Christopher Curcuruto, bass-baritone, is an emerging artist from Sydney, Australia based in Texas, USA. A Lesley Studio Artist with Fort Worth Opera (FWO), Christopher is in the final year of postgraduate studies in Opera Performance at the University of North Texas where he studies under Dr. Stephen Austin and is the recipient of the competitive David L. Shrader Opera Scholarship. This past summer Christopher was a Resident Artist with the Pittsburgh Festival Opera’s Mastersingers Project for Young Dramatic Voices with internationally-renowned dramatic soprano Jane Eaglen, and was previously a Young Artist with Pacific Opera Company (Australia). Christopher has appeared in some of Australia’s most prestigious competitions including as a finalist in the Opera Foundation for Young Australians’ Lady Fairfax Scholarship in 2017, finalist in the Sydney Eisteddfod Opera Awards in both 2016 and 2017, and most recently as a finalist in the Sydney Eisteddfod Opera Scholarship in 2018.

Christopher’s upcoming engagements include Zweiter Soldat (Salome) with Dallas Symphony Orchestra; covering Colline (La Bohème) in the FWO 2020 mainstage Festival and outreach performances with the FWO Children’s Opera Theatre; Leporello (Don Giovanni), Horace Giddens (Regina), and Zuniga (Carmen) with UNT Opera. Recent engagements include: Marco (Gianni Schicchi), Third King (Die Liebe der Danae), covering Gianni Schicchi, and Hunding (Die Walküre – Dove) with Pittsburgh Festival Opera; Parson (The Cunning Little Vixen), Gianni Schicchi, and Don Alfonso (Cosí fan Tutte) with UNT Opera; and Leporello (Don Giovanni) with the Varna International Opera Academy (Bulgaria) as an Overseas Music Scholar with the Australian Elizabethan Theatre Trust.

Christopher holds graduate qualifications in both Opera Performance (Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts) and Theatre Performance (University of New England) and is the recipient of sponsorships from the Wagner Society in New South Wales, the Sydney Savage Club, and the PPCA Performers’ Trust. Locally, Christopher is a Scholarship Singer with the St. Andrews Presbyterian Church Chancel Choir Denton, Texas.
